Reformation and Umbro have done something quietly brilliant. The two brands — one a sustainability-first womenswear label, the other a heritage British sportswear giant — have linked up for the first time, and the result is exactly the kind of collab that makes you wonder why it took this long.
Launching as the second edition of Reformation's Spectator Sport series, the collection arrives just in time for a summer of football. Six pieces built for watch parties, not just workouts: minidresses, cropped windbreakers and running shorts in a palette of yellow, red and blue that reads athletic without trying too hard. Umbro's double diamond logo is all over it — sometimes subtle, sometimes blown up across the front of a tee — and the whole thing is made using deadstock athletic materials, so the sustainability credentials are as solid as the aesthetic ones.
This is sportswear for the woman who actually watches the game but isn't willing to sacrifice her outfit for it. The silhouettes are chic, the references are archival, and the conscious twist feels earned rather than bolted on.
The collection drops June 22 on the Reformation website. If the first Spectator Sport series is anything to go by, it won't hang around.
How to wear it: Lean into the colour-blocking — yellow windbreaker over the red shorts is the move. Ground it with a clean white trainer and minimal jewellery, and you've got a look that works from the pub screen to the after-party.
