Mowalola x Jordan Brand Is On the Way

Mowalola Ogunlesi and Jordan Brand have officially confirmed their collaboration, and it's exactly as uncompromising as you'd expect from the Nigerian-British designer who has spent the last several years making fashion that refuses to be comfortable.

The collection centres on two key pieces of apparel — a plaid mesh tracksuit and a red patent leather Jordan polo shirt — alongside the headline footwear: a reimagined Air Jordan 14 recut as a mule. The AJ14 Mule retains the original's sculpted heel and Ferrari-inspired detailing but removes the back entirely, giving it a new silhouette that sits somewhere between archival sportswear and something you'd see on a Mowalola runway.
The apparel is characteristically Mowalola: the plaid mesh tracksuit layers a semi-sheer black mesh over a dark tartan base, with red Jumpman branding hitting at the chest and thigh. It's wide-leg, oversized and deliberately confrontational. The red patent polo is cleaner — a Jordan Brand staple shape rendered in high-shine leather with the Jumpman embroidered at the chest — but no less considered.

Mowalola has been one of the most interesting designers working in the intersection of sportswear and high fashion for some time. Her work consistently pulls from Nigerian culture, rave aesthetics and a very specific kind of maximalism that doesn't borrow from luxury — it builds its own language. A Jordan Brand collaboration makes sense not because it's an obvious pairing, but because both have always been about performance as identity.
Release details are yet to be confirmed, but the collection is expected to drop via Jordan Brand and select retailers. We'll update as more information becomes available.
