Collaborations are usually at their weakest when you can see the meeting. This one feels oddly inevitable.
Celine has taken Reebok’s Freestyle Lo—the 1982 trainer made for women—and kept the bit that matters: its neat, slightly awkward ’80s shape.
Then come the Celine extras: lambskin, a retro co-branded tongue label and a gold coin charm that should be too much but absolutely isn’t. The campaign styling does the rest. Soft tailoring, crumpled socks, properly worn-in trainers. No pristine sneaker worship required.
There are eight colours, from Optic White and Butter through to Oxblood and Fluo Red. The creamy ones are winning for me, although I reserve the right to become a red-shoe person at any moment.
Verdict: more than a logo swap. These are genuinely excellent.
