For his first UGG collaboration, Jonathan Anderson has added penny-loafer straps and white box stitching to the Classic Boot and Tasman. The result is a suede, shearling-lined hybrid that is neither smart nor entirely slovenly.
In other words: extremely Jonathan Anderson.
The unisex Loafer costs £280 and the Loafer Boot £380, each in Chestnut, Khaki and Orange. Dev Hynes fronts the campaign, wearing them with rolled denim, roomy tailoring and colourful knitwear.
Anderson wisely leaves the essential UGG-ness intact. The loafer detailing doesn’t make the shoe more elegant; it makes its lack of elegance feel intentional.
An UGG wearing a penny loafer as a hat should not be this desirable.
Of course, it is.
