The Jacket That Got Us
Keith Haring’s drawings have appeared on T-shirts, trainers, watches and plenty of things that did not really need Keith Haring’s drawings on them.
So our response to another collaboration should have been fatigue.
Then Louis Vuitton sent out that jacket.
Silver, red, yellow and black, with Haring’s figures worked across the leather like one enormous, joyful drawing. It is loud, beautifully made and completely alive—the clear standout of the collection.
The giant dancing-figure earring only improves matters.
Not Just Another Print Job
Thankfully, the story goes deeper than famous artwork placed on an expensive bag.
In 1984, Haring drew his Radiant Baby and other figures across an old Louis Vuitton suitcase. Nicolas Ghesquière brought the original case out for Louis Vuitton’s Cruise 2027 show at The Frick Collection in New York earlier this year.
Now, the house has scanned the suitcase—marks, scratches, patina and all—and transferred it onto two new pieces: the Capucines MM Genesis and the miniature Valisette Genesis.
For once, the archive is not being mentioned simply because it sounds nice. The original object genuinely shaped the collection.
The Best Bits
At the most collectable end are 13 Artycapucines designs made using leather marquetry, embroidery, embossing, laser printing and enamelled charms.
The black-and-white beaded Capucines is especially good: graphic enough to register from across a room, intricate enough to reward staring.
The white version strung with colourful Haring figures is simpler, but possibly more charming. It treats the artwork like jewellery rather than surface decoration.
Then there is the vinyl-record bag: black, circular and finished with a red Haring label. Where does your phone go? Unclear. Do we still want it? Obviously.
The tiny crystal New York takeout box and the Rain Dance trunk may be even less practical. They are also exactly the sort of strange, specific objects that make a collaboration worth looking at.
Subtlety Was Not the Assignment
Nothing here is whispering. Thank God.
It is bright, graphic and occasionally ridiculous—but it understands that luxury can still be fun. Not every desirable object needs to arrive in taupe.
When Can We Get It?
Selected pieces will be previewed at Art Basel Paris from 23 October 2026.
The full collaboration is expected to arrive worldwide on 1 January 2027, including the bags, ready-to-wear, leather goods and accessories.
The record bag is still excellent. But the jacket wins.
Wearable art is an overused phrase. This time, it actually fits.
