Onitsuka Tiger knows the power of a stripe.

For Spring/Summer 2027, it asked what else that stripe could do. The answer: climb a knee-high boot, sharpen itself around a pointed pump and quietly transform a very proper penny loafer.

The results are wonderfully strange.

This isn’t a trainer with a heel stuck on

That would have been the easy route. These shoes feel far more resolved.

Our favourite pointed pump has the lean proportions of an evening shoe, interrupted by metallic leather, exposed laces and the unmistakable Tiger stripes. It’s sporty—but only in the way a racing car is sporty.

Then there’s the silver lace-up with its sculpted block heel: part vintage track shoe, part 1960s pump and part object we didn’t know we needed. The athletic details aren’t decoration. They determine the shoe’s entire construction.

The Tiger stripe travels well

Across the collection, familiar footwear categories are pulled into Onitsuka Tiger’s world: soft penny loafers, metallic pumps, boxer-style ankle boots and knee-high lace-ups balanced on heels.

There is also a newly redrawn Tiger stripe and a metallic reinterpretation of the MEXICO X66, including a mule version. Together, they make the show feel less like a collection of novelty shoes and more like the beginning of a bigger design system.

One recognisable brand code. An entirely new footwear wardrobe.

Fast shoes, even when standing still

A collaboration with Honda brings motorcycle graphics, racing colours and the wing logo onto boots and clothing. But the really interesting bit is the contrast: performance references meet ribbons, ruffled socks, metallic leather and distinctly feminine heels.

Speed without a rubber sole. Sportswear without sensible shoes.

The bigger move

Onitsuka Tiger describes this as the beginning of its next era as a luxury lifestyle brand. That makes these experiments commercially important, too.

The MEXICO 66 has already become a modern wardrobe staple. Now the brand is testing whether the visual equity built around that shoe—especially its stripes—can carry loafers, pumps and boots with equal authority.

Judging by the pointed metallic heel and that extraordinary lace-up block shoe, it can.

The Wonder verdict

Some of the boots are gloriously excessive. Some may never make it beyond fantasy-shopping territory.

But the best shoes here do something much harder than creating a viral silhouette: they make Onitsuka Tiger recognisable without relying on the trainer everybody already knows.

Wonder loves: the pointed metallic kitten heel, the silver lace-up block heel, the pink boxer boot and the striped black penny loafer.
