There are boards that document a trend, and boards that accidentally call one. Wonder’s latest coat saves have become a small stampede.

The common thread is not simply animal print. It is scale. These coats are long, lean and allowed to dominate. They are not a cautious leopard collar or a tiny printed bag. They are the first thing you see and, ideally, the last thing you need to add.

New York Fashion Week’s Autumn/Winter 2026 street style made the same case: leopard and cheetah led, while zebra and cow print looked even sharper for being less expected. Now zebra is pushing forward again, helped by the fact that it works as well with red and purple as it does with black, cream and denim.

How the good ones are being worn

01

Give the hem some ambition. Calf and ankle lengths make leopard feel elegant rather than novelty. If it moves when you walk, even better.

02

Keep the layer underneath almost boring. White tee, blue jeans, black dress, charcoal knit. The restraint is what lets the coat look expensive.

03

Choose the shape before the species. A convincing shoulder, proper collar and clean line matter more than whether the print is leopard, zebra or snake.

04

Leopard is the classic. Zebra is the current one. Brown-toned zebra is particularly good if black and white feels too graphic.

The Wonder verdict

Animal print has been called a neutral so often that the phrase has stopped meaning much. This is better: treat it as outerwear with a point of view.

Wonder wants: one ankle-skimming leopard coat, worn with denim, black shoes and absolutely no attempt to calm it down.
